PrestaShop: Understand subscriptions

You can use recurring payments to charge customers on a regular basis. Customers make the first payment with the payment method of their choice. Subsequent payments happen automatically using direct debits or credit card charges.

Tip

• To reduce the risk of chargebacks, we recommend that you clearly communicate to your customers how much and how often they will be charged.

• We also recommend that you notify your customers a few of days in advance of the each payment, for example by sending them an email.

Supported payment methods

Customers who buy a subscription from your shop must make an initial payment with a supported payment method. In so doing, they authorise payments for future instalments of their subscription.

If your customer initially paid with a credit/debit card, all their subsequent payments are by credit/debit card. If they pay with any other payment method, all their subsequent payments are by SEPA Direct Debit.

Customers can use all payment methods provided by Mollie for PrestaShop for the initial subscription payment.
