WooCommerce: Understand subscriptions

Tip

  • To reduce the risk of chargebacks, we recommend that you clearly communicate to your customers how much and how often they will be charged.

  • We also recommend that you notify your customers a few of days in advance of the each payment, for example by sending them an email.

Supported WooCommerce Subscriptions features

Mollie supports most but not all of the features offered by WooCommerce Subscriptions. The following are the features that it supports:

  • Synchronise renewals

  • Retry failed payments

  • Switch subscriptions

  • Suspend subscriptions

  • WooCommerce: Cancel subscriptions

  • Reactivate subscriptions

  • Manage multiple subscriptions

  • Manage recurring total charges

  • Change the payment date

  • Change the payment method (merchants only)

    Note

    Your customers can only change the payment method for a particular order, and only if they make a manual payment in the following situations:

    • Early renewal

    • The renewal status is "pending renewal order"

    • A renewal payment has failed

    It's impossible to change the payment method for the subscription as a whole.

    If a customer wants to use a different payment method for their subscription, we recommend that they cancel their subscription and resubscribe at the end of the subscription term.

  • Pay for renewal

  • Change the address for one subscription

  • Change the address for all subscriptions

  • Resubscribe

  • Enable early renewals

  • Set next payment date after early renewal

  • Enable automatic renewal
